Just months after winning the Diva of the Year award WWE have released Maria Kanellis from her contract. It's believed her release came after meetings between Maria and WWE over control of her career broke down without agreement. Maria said that WWE had wanted her to sign for some ventures she wasn't interested in. Writing on her Twitter Page, Maria confirmed that she didn’t ask for her release but “I am still going to kick ass in other areas!!” She regretted never winning a women’s or Diva’s title while in WWE and missing WrestleMania 26. As for the future Maria commented “Passion is my Motivation! Time to Sing! Time to work for Charity! Time to Dance! Time to be Alive again!” and then added “There is a bright new future when one door closes another opens! Bring on the Doors! Spanks and Kisses" Her final months in WWE saw her help Mickie James in her war against Michelle McCool and Layla El and then amazingly she won the Diva of the Year award at the Slammy Awards. February 2010 saw her pair up with Matt Hardy but then WWE decided to release her from her contract. Maria is due to be seen in ‘ Celebrity Apprentice’ and is due to release her debut album ‘Seven Sins’ in April. We'lll take a look back at her career in WWE in the next edition of 'Fighting Females' due out the week beginning March 8th
